University of Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven))

The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven) is the leading university in Belgium and is the Belgian member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). Within the university, the Institute for International and European Policy (IIEB) and the interdisciplinary Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies (LCGGS) are at the heart of research and education on the external dimension of the European Union, including professors from the Politics, Law, Economics and Arts Faculties. Appreciation for these activities was reflected in the award of two Jean Monnet Chairs (the Professors Stephan Keukeleire and Frank Delmartino) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (for a project on “The EU, Foreign Policy and Global Governance”). Professors of the IIEB, LCGGS and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence are members of various European projects, including the newly created EU-GRASP (a new FP7 Project on Europe’s role in the World), the Thematic Network of European Studies, and the Erasmus Mundus External Window projects with China and India.
